Long Black Gothic Coat

September 30, 2008 at 1:54 pm (Clothing) (, , )

This is a strange story I know:
Last winter, I was walking to the cinema and ended up walking behind a girl who had the most beautiful long black goat.  It was so perfect in every way, I nearly asked her where she got it from but I managed to resist in fear of being called a weirdo.
Ever since that day, I’ve wanted to find it, but everywhere I look, the coats are just half-decent.

What I really really need is a coat which is elegant and well fitting, and the bottom is about 20 inches from the foot which flares out slightly.  It’s kind of gothic in design, but not over-the-top.
I’m just fed up of buying coats which I’m only 60% happy with because I can’t find anything better.

This gothic coat comes close- imagine it was tight around the waist and flowed down past the legs.

I WILL find the perfect one eventually!

Furniture- Bedside Cabinet

September 29, 2008 at 5:31 pm (Furnishings) ()

I’ve been looking for a small bedside cabinet for ages, and one which is solid wood and has 2 or 3 drawers.  Trying to match new stuff with the wooden furniture you already have can be really tricky, but today I think I’ve found the perfect one: Bedside Cabinet
In fact, all their ranges of furniture for the bedroom are pretty cool: Bedroom Pine Furniture
I’ll carry on looking around for another couple of weeks until I’ve made a final decision.

Epilators – yay or nay

September 29, 2008 at 9:55 am (Beauty) (, )

After about 3 months of umming and erring about getting an epilator, I finally made the leap at the weekend.  The reason I bought one was that I sick of shaving and getting that horrible prickly feeling, even straight after shaving!  It’s such a bad idea, and I think people should start as they mean to go on, and go straight for the waxing and/or epilator, because sooner or later you’ll get to the breaking point with your shaver.
I bought a Philips Ice Cooler Epilator, which was £54.99 in Boots.  I am trying to make myself feel better about this spending by thinking that it’s a long term saving, which it is!
However, I’ve been reading more about epilation on the net, and so many people say it’s so painful, they had to go back to shaving.  As I haven’t had a chance to try mine out yet, I can’t say, but obviously I’ve now got doubt in my mind.
I’ll let you know when I’ve tried it out.

Which Micro System?

September 27, 2008 at 12:52 pm (Appliances) (, )

The current thing I’m trying to look for at the moment actually isn’t anything like a gift or clothing.  It’s a stereo system.  A micro stereo system to be precise.
The reason I need a new one is that the one I have at the moment is pretty poor.  6 years ago, it was fantastic (it’s an Aiwa system) but right now, there’s a lot wrong with it.  I’m quite good in that I don’t buy expensive stuff unless I really need it.   But my Aiwa is failing me-

The CD player doesn’t work properly anymore.  It doesn’t play tracks unless I give it a hefty bash on the side
The tape player is very squeeky. Not only that, but tapes are obselete, and I don’t even want to have a tape player there reminding me of how quickly time is passing me by
I spilt candle wax all over the front of it.  I accept this is my fault, and not Aiwa’s. I’ve managed to scrape the worst of it off, but there’s scratch marks where my boyfriend tried to use a nail file to get the wax off (!)
The remote doesn’t work.  Actually, the remote does work. It’s just that where I’ve been bashing the side of the stereo so much to get the CD player to work, it’s damaged the remote signal receiever.

So you see, I really do need a new one.  And it must have the following:

CD player (preferably one disk player to keep the size down)
DAB radio as well as FM
At least 20 presets for DAB and 20 for FM
Alarm system
NO tape player
15 watts output PER speaker
USB Port
Headphones socket
It would be great if it also had a device to record from DAB, like the Pure DAB can.

The final list of possibilies has come down to the following:

Panasonic SC PM46DBEBE-K
Pure DAB DMX 60
JVC UXGB9DAB

The first one is limited and doesn’t seem to have DAB presets.  The second is discontinued but can be found on amazon (for £300), and the last one has been discontinued and cannot be found anywhere.

So… that’s where I’m left, and I’m not sure what to go for, or whether there’s anything other than what’s on my list.  Any advice would be greatly welcomed!

New Blog

September 26, 2008 at 1:01 pm (Uncategorized)

Hi, I’m Starry21.  It’s not my real name, but hey, this is the internet.  I can be who I like!

I’m not really starting this blog for any single reason.  I think it was a multitude of events leading up to a need to write.  A need to write about my passion, which is shopping!

But don’t get me wrong, I’m not into spending money frivolously. I’m very much into researching things first and making sure I get the best deal.

And I just wanted to share that with others too! :)
