Panasonic Micro System

Panasonic SC-PM46DBEB-K
Yesterday I finally took the plunge and bought myself a Panasonic SC-PM46DBEB-K Micro System. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but I figured what I really wanted would never come up at a decent price, or at least for another 2 years anyway. It was 129.99 from Comet, and after setting it up yesterday morning, I reckon it was a fantastic purchase. The DAB radio is incredible, perfect clarity and that’s without the DAB aerial even put up properly. The bass is awesome- setting 1 is the same feel of bass that my previous micro system had at the top setting of 3. And the look of it is pretty good too, and fits well with the rest of my room. The only problem now is figuring out what to do with the old stereo.
Which Micro System?
The current thing I’m trying to look for at the moment actually isn’t anything like a gift or clothing. It’s a stereo system. A micro stereo system to be precise.
The reason I need a new one is that the one I have at the moment is pretty poor. 6 years ago, it was fantastic (it’s an Aiwa system) but right now, there’s a lot wrong with it. I’m quite good in that I don’t buy expensive stuff unless I really need it. But my Aiwa is failing me-
The CD player doesn’t work properly anymore. It doesn’t play tracks unless I give it a hefty bash on the side
The tape player is very squeeky. Not only that, but tapes are obselete, and I don’t even want to have a tape player there reminding me of how quickly time is passing me by
I spilt candle wax all over the front of it. I accept this is my fault, and not Aiwa’s. I’ve managed to scrape the worst of it off, but there’s scratch marks where my boyfriend tried to use a nail file to get the wax off (!)
The remote doesn’t work. Actually, the remote does work. It’s just that where I’ve been bashing the side of the stereo so much to get the CD player to work, it’s damaged the remote signal receiever.
So you see, I really do need a new one. And it must have the following:
CD player (preferably one disk player to keep the size down)
DAB radio as well as FM
At least 20 presets for DAB and 20 for FM
Alarm system
NO tape player
15 watts output PER speaker
USB Port
Headphones socket
It would be great if it also had a device to record from DAB, like the Pure DAB can.
The final list of possibilies has come down to the following:
Panasonic SC PM46DBEBE-K
Pure DAB DMX 60
JVC UXGB9DAB
The first one is limited and doesn’t seem to have DAB presets. The second is discontinued but can be found on amazon (for £300), and the last one has been discontinued and cannot be found anywhere.
So… that’s where I’m left, and I’m not sure what to go for, or whether there’s anything other than what’s on my list. Any advice would be greatly welcomed!
